Since the group began, the highlight of the year for TSG members and the many students who over the years have attended courses, is the Summer School. In a busy world it’s wonderful to have the chance to indulge an interest uninterrupted for a few days and at the Summer School students can enjoy the chance to have an extended period of working with the best textile tutors in the country. Last year’s Summer School was held at Farncombe, in the Cotswolds, and as you can see from the gallery of images taken in Shelley Rhodes’ workshop, the hard work produced exciting results.
There is a change of venue for the 2016 Summer School. This year we will be meeting in York and the tutors are Alison King, Bobby Britnell and Sheila Mortlock. The Summer School is titled Drawn Together and Bobby, Alison and Sheila are approaching the topic from different points of view. They are offering a wonderful melting pot of ideas: ways of working, getting all those ideas out of your head and making them real. You will have opportunities to explore ways of recording and developing your ideas, some of which may be new to you. Within a supportive and encouraging atmosphere this year’s Summer School aims to help students to widen their horizons and create an exciting few days of new possibilities for everyone.
